What Will Your Child Discover During May’s STREAM Machine Visit?

During May’s STREAM Machine visits, young learners will explore thunderstorms and the science behind them. In this one-hour experience, children will learn how storms form, what causes thunder and lightning, and how meteorologists help us understand the weather.

Children will share their own storm experiences and watch a short video introducing meteorologists. They’ll also view a clip from PBS KIDS Weather Hunters, “Dark and Stormy Night,” which uses engaging visuals to explain thunder and lightning in a way that’s easy to understand and remember.
To put learning into action, students will work together to create a five-day weather forecast, using symbols and temperature clues to predict conditions and present their ideas.

By the end, children will better understand thunderstorms and feel more confident talking about the weather around them.
