Our planet is an incredibly wonderful place and that’s why we celebrate Earth Day in April each year! The STREAM Team visited many neighborhoods as they loaded up the STREAM Machine with PBS KIDS books and lots of Earth Day supplies for their pop-up sessions at Lincoln Elementary and Lakewood Preschools. The students viewed a clip of Clementine from the animated series, “Loop Scoops.” In that episode, Clementine discovers America’s magazine waste and decides to creatively repurpose the discarded ones when she learns their impact on landfills. Then, the students were given a bag of trash and were challenged to find ways to reduce the amount taken to the landfill. The STREAM Team ends every pop-up session with a great book, like “Arthur Turns Green.”
That’s not all! The STREAM Team popped in at Erie Housing Authority’s Bird Drive and East Brook locations, including the Neighborhood Art House where they distributed STREAM kits. The STREAM Team looks forward to their visits with children throughout the Erie community!
