Join local maker Karen S to learn the basics of crochet in this 3-session beginner class. Participants will learn a new crochet skill each class, then use that skill to make a beginner project. Each session will build on the skills learned in the previous class, so please register only if you can attend all 3 sessions. All materials will be provided.
Session 1 - Wednesday August 6th at 6pm: Cup cosy for use on coffee cups. Using a chain stitch and single crochet, you'll be able to make a cup cozy to use instead of the cardboard ones from your favorite coffee shop!
Session 2 - Wednesday August 13th at 6pm: Granny square bag. In this class, you'll use a chain stitch, single and double crochet to make granny squares and turn them into a nice drawstring bag.
Session 3 - Wednesday August 20th at 6pm: Crochet hat In this class, you'll use a chain stitch, double and triple crochet to make a nice winter hat. These would make great gifts for anyone!
Free. Registration required. Ages 13 to adult.
This class will take place in the Blasco Library's Community Classroom. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. If you think you will need extra help to complete this project, please bring a support person with you to this class.

Going Blue: Tween Book and Action ClubFor ages 10–14

Calling all Green Tweens! Join Librarian Jessica Spitulski and Dr. Sam Mason of Gannon University for a four-week book and action club centered around Going Blue: A Teen Guide to Saving Earth’s Oceans, Lakes, Rivers, and Wetlands. Each week, participants will dive into a thoughtful discussion and hands-on activity that explores our vital connection to water.
Together, we'll learn about watersheds, human impact on aquatic environments, and practical ways we can all help protect our planet’s most precious resource. Books will be provided. Just bring your curiosity and your passion for making a difference!
