WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973, and on April 2nd of that year – 800 ninth-grade students from Westlake and JS Wilson Junor High Schools began classes at the new Millcreek Intermediate High School. It was raining that day and students complained about getting wet waiting for the doors to open.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, showing Lake Erie, Our Kin Part 1 this Thursday night on WQLN PBS.
