WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On September 28th of that year, the severe summer drought continued drying many water wells around Erie County. Harborcreek residents were disappointed to learn that the City of Erie would not sell them water to replenish dried wells.

This Day in History is presented by the Emmy-nominated history series Chronicles. The new season begins next month and is available online at WQLN.org and on the PBS app - Passport.
