WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On September 26th of that year, Erie’s Saint Martin Social Service Center, still reeling from Pennsylvania’s budget crisis, received an unexpected gift of Eleven Hundred pounds of Food from Edinboro College’s Fraternities and Sororities.

This Day in History is presented by the Emmy-nominated history series Chronicles. The new season begins next month and is available online at WQLN.org and on the PBS app - Passport.
