WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On July 2nd of that year, Pennsylvania Governor Milton Shapp appeared on WQLN-TV 54 to discuss the state’s budget crisis. The Pennsylvania state legislature was unable to pass a budget in time for the June 30th deadline.
