WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On June 17th of that year, the Erie Clowns won the country’s top clown award at the National Clown Convention in Atlantic City. Accepting the award were Erie Clown president Eric Staaf, Master Clown Joe Kury, and Mistress Clown Mama-Jill Kury.
