WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On June 16th of that year, to avoid hitting a deer, an American Chloride Tanker quickly stopped and stalled on a steep hill outside of Corry. The driver could not restart the truck, and it coasted backwards - downhill, hitting two cars and smashing into a house. No one was hurt, but the house was a total loss.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, nominated for seven Emmy awards, and available online at WQLN.org and on the PBS app Passport.
