WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On June 15th of that year, a cameraman from WTAE in Pittsburgh mistook Erie County Commissioner Bill Hill for a courthouse janitor. The cameraman needed a place to record an interview. Hill unlocked an office – offered the space, and when asked whose office it was – Hill replied, “Mine.”
This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, nominated for seven Emmy awards, and available online at WQLN.org and on the PBS app Passport.
