WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On June 6th of that year, an underground conduit fire and explosion caused a huge power outage in Downtown Erie. At the Warner Theatre, the film High Plans Drifter caught fire. Locals would have to wait until the film came to the Sunset Drive-In to see if Clint Eastwood survived.
This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, nominated for seven Emmy awards, and available online at WQLN.org and on the PBS app Passport.
