WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On May 13th of that year, Cathedral Prep senior Kevin Cunio won the prestigious Grantland Rice scholarship to Vanderbilt University. The 17-year-old Cunio had articles published in Sports Illustrated, Grit, and Ring magazine.
