WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973, and on April 14th of that year – A state of emergency was declared at Presque Isle State Park. The city of Erie, Erie County, Millcreek Township, and the state of Pennsylvania all promised funding and much-needed heavy equipment to clear roads and repair beaches damaged by severe winter storms.
This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, showing Pitt Hole City Part 2 next Thursday night on WQLN PBS.
