WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973, and on March 3rd of that year – an 18-wheel tractor-trailer broke in half while crossing over the 16 Mile Creek bridge on Interstate 90. The cause of the accident was identified as significant potholes in the area, which PennDOT promised to repair.
This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, which is available online at WQLN.org and on PBS Passport.
