WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973, and on February 8th of that year – 70 head of cattle perished in a barn fire at the Simcheck Dairy Farm in Cambridge Springs. The fire was so fast-moving that when the fire department arrived, all that remained were a few standing timbers.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles on WQLN PBS.
