WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On December 30th of that year, WQLN Radio Manager Harold Bauer announced he would begin teaching a three-credit course at Gannon College, on the appreciation of Opera. The syllabus included that students must listen to Saturday afternoon opera on WQLN FM.

This Day in History is presented by WQLN’s Emmy-nominated weekly history series Chronicles. Available on WQLN PBS and on our TV app - Passport.
