WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On December 28th of that year, the Erie Times-News offered help to local skiers coping with the national suspension of Sunday gasoline sales by publishing a map of how far a variety of cars can safely travel to and return home on a full tank of gas.

This Day in History is presented by WQLN’s Emmy-nominated weekly history series Chronicles. Available on WQLN PBS and on our TV app - Passport.
