WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On December 21st of that year, Erie’s well-known and very well-decorated “Christmas House” at the corner of 31st and Ash streets went dark - shutting off its lights to preserve electricity due to a national energy crisis.
This Day in History is presented by WQLN’s Emmy-nominated weekly history series Chronicles. Available on WQLN PBS and on our TV app - Passport.
