WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On December 3rd of that year, Erie area automotive stores reported they had sold out of gas cap locks for cars. The shortages were due to rumors of additional gas rationing.

This Day in History is presented by WQLN’s Emmy-nominated weekly history series Chronicles. Available on WQLN PBS and on our TV app - Passport.
