WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On November 28th of that year, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation recommended restoration of passenger train service to Erie. PENNDot’s report indicated a commercial need for two daily trains to serve the city.

This Day in History is presented by WQLN’s Emmy-nominated weekly history series Chronicles. Available on WQLN PBS and on our TV app - Passport.
