WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On November 27th of that year, two boys, ages eight and seven opened a railroad switch causing a 26 car freight train to crash. The million dollar derailment occurred on the Erie-Lackawanna line, just west of Warren Ohio.
This Day in History is presented by WQLN’s Emmy-nominated weekly history series Chronicles. Available on WQLN PBS and on our TV app - Passport.
