WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On November 12th of that year, Arthur Fiedler and the Syracuse POPs Orchestra performed at Tech Memorial High School. Following the performance, Erie Mayor Louis Tullio named Fiedler honorary Fire Chief and presented him with an Erie Fire Department Helmet.

This Day in History is presented by the Emmy-nominated history series Chronicles, airing Secrets of the Abyss, followed by Mother In Law of the US Navy this Thursday night on WQLN PBS and on our TV app - Passport.
