WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On November 4th of that year, Martin Morant, the executive director of Pennsylvania’s State College and University Facilities, said Edinboro College and many other state colleges in the commonwealth could face closure in March due to a $7.8 million deficit in the state budget.

This Day in History is presented by the Emmy-nominated history series Chronicles, airing Lake Science, followed by Field Work next Thursday night on WQLN PBS and on our TV app - Passport.
