WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On October 29th of that year, Erie Mayor Louis Tulio finally debated mayoral candidate and opponent Richard Foht. The debate was held at a Kiwanis lunch and consisted of short prepared reparks from each candidate.

This Day in History is presented by the Emmy-nominated history series Chronicles. We return to Port Erie, this Thursday night on WQLN PBS and on our TV app - Passport.
