WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On October 28th of that year, Chi-Chi, an escaped spider monkey from the Erie Zoo was caught and brought to Erie’s Animal Hospital for care. After receiving a clean health bill, he was returned to the zoo safe and sound.

This Day in History is presented by the Emmy-nominated history series Chronicles. We return to Port Erie, next Thursday night on WQLN PBS and on our TV app - Passport.
