WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On October 24th of that year, Erieites Christine Eichenlaub and Rosemary Lay were assaulted, shot, and robbed at the Pali Lookout in Honolulu, Hawaii. Rosemary Lay was a WQLN television producer and director. Both recovered.

This Day in History is presented by the Emmy-nominated history series Chronicles. The new season begins this Thursday, on WQLN PBS and on our TV app - Passport.
