WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On October 10th of that year, Commissioner of Pennsylvania State Police, Colonel James Barger, warned all motorists to use extreme caution around distracted drivers viewing the colorful fall foliage.

This Day in History is presented by the Emmy-nominated history series Chronicles. The new season begins Thursday October 26 on WQLN PBS and on our TV app - Passport.
