Scholastic Scrimmage Season 2 Premiere

There’s quite a bit of excitement in the air as WQLN PBS prepares to showcase local teens in our second annual Scholastic Scrimmage, a high school quiz bowl game where local schools compete for a trophy and various school scholarships. Schools competing for the top prize include Maplewood, General McLane, Harbor Creek, Cochranton, Iroquois, Titusville, Mercyhurst Prep, Saegertown, Cathedral Prep, Fort LeBoeuf, Youngsville, Erie High, Cambridge Springs, Tidioute, Cranberry, and Collegiate Academy.

The questions are extremely challenging, but the teams are extraordinarily knowledgeable! Each team consists of four high school students who answer questions in the areas of math, history, science, and literature. Players buzz in before the time expires, and the first team with the correct answer earns points with a chance to answer a bonus question. The first-place winning school is awarded a scholarship of $4,000 and a trophy.

Watch your favorite high school team weekdays, January 9 through January 27, at 5:30pm. If you miss an episode, you can catch the episode starting on January 12, on Thursdays at 8:30pm or, beginning January 15, on Sundays at 2:30pm.

Scholastic Scrimmage is sponsored by Morris Coupling, National Fuel Gas, Allegheny College, Thiel College, Westminster College, and Penn State Behrend
