Engineering Tragedy Now Available on Passport

Engineering Tragedy: The Ashtabula Train Disaster is the first documentary film featuring the history of the Great American Train Tragedy in Ashtabula on December 29, 1876. In this town on the shores of Lake Erie an all-iron railroad bridge collapsed sending one of the most luxurious trains to ever ride the rails plummeting 70 feet into a frozen river. Of the 170 people that were onboard, only 75 survived.

The film reenacts a devasting period of local history and is proudly presented by filmmakers Len and Patti Brown of Beacon Productions in partnership with WQLN PBS. Stream the documentary anytime with WQLN PBS Passport.

The Ashtabula Train Disaster was the deadliest and most notorious bridge failure of the 19th Century and a transforming event in American History.
