WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On September 19th of that year, Gannon’s old science building at 125 West Seventh Street became home to the Democratic and Republican campaign headquarters. Passerbys noticed that the Republicans were on the left side of the building and the Democrats on the right.

This Day in History is presented by the Emmy-nominated history series Chronicles. The new season begins next month and is available online at WQLN.org and on the PBS app - Passport.
