WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On September 17th of that year, Erie County Judge Levin decided not to cite WICU TV news reporter Hyle Richmond for contempt of Court. Richmond accidentally filmed William Wilson while he pleaded guilty in the murder trial of his caretaker Eleanor Waddle.

This Day in History is presented by the Emmy-nominated history series Chronicles. The new season begins next month and is available online at WQLN.org and on the PBS app - Passport.
