WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On August 7th of that year, Miss Pennsylvania Tina Louise Thomas performed at various Erie area senior centers as part of her campaign to win the crown of Miss America. Thomas was first runner-up for the 1974 beauty pageant.
