WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On August 28th of that year, the Canadian Rail strike entered its second week, causing the Erie Times-News to give daily reports of their newspaper inventory to prepare subscribers for any possible downsizing of the Daily News or the Morning News.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, nominated for seven Emmy awards, and available online at WQLN.org and on the PBS app Passport.
