WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On August 19th of that year, several residents of Greenfield Township met and formed the Hornby School Restoration Society. The new nonprofit built the Hornby one-room schoolhouse and museum. The school, which is still open today, replaced the Shadduck Schoolhouse.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, nominated for seven Emmy awards, and available online at WQLN.org and on the PBS app Passport.
