WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On August 9th of that year, police arrested five women near Fifth and State streets as part of a city-wide crackdown on summertime prostitution. The arrests prompted a newspaper article that attempted to differentiate the difference between prostitution and a date.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, nominated for seven Emmy awards, and available online at WQLN.org and on the PBS app Passport.
