WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On July 15th of that year, vandals slashed the sails and cut the rigging off the US Brig Niagara. This senseless, destructive act underscored the need for a complete reconstruction of the dry-docked historic vessel.
This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, nominated for seven Emmy awards, and available online at WQLN.org and on the PBS app Passport.
