WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On July 13th of that year, Erie’s US Coast Guard Station flooded for the second time in as many months. Sandbags did not prevent the complete flooding of the entrance road and the compound’s buildings.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, nominated for seven Emmy awards, and available online at WQLN.org and on the PBS app Passport.
