WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On July 12th of that year, City Councilman Mario Bagnoni read a letter of protest into the city record. The Councilman was furious over the portrayal of Lake Erie on the television series The Mod Squad. The series depicted a polluted Lake Erie that was too polluted for a “criminal on the run” to use as a means of escape.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, nominated for seven Emmy awards, and available online at WQLN.org and on the PBS app Passport.
