WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On July 6th of that year, Erie Police Officer Donald Wildermouth reported seeing a flashing green and red object over Lake Erie. The Erie Airport and the US Coast Guard were unable to confirm a UFO or a crash landing of an airplane.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, nominated for seven Emmy awards, and available online at WQLN.org and on the PBS app Passport.
