WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On June 28th of that year, Erie’s Dog Enforcement Officer George Glecos abruptly and with great fanfare quit his job. Glecos had been the city’s dog catcher for only five days. He was overwhelmed by the 24/7 telephone requests for dog collection.
This Day in History is presented by the Emmy-nominated Chronicles. Showing Bellwether: The Political Evolution of Erie tomorrow night at eight on WQLN PBS.
