WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On June 20th of that year, fourteen-year-old violin virtuoso Karen Eley from Great Neck Long Island led the Erie Philharmonic under the direction of Walter Hendl in a performance of Paganini’s Violin Concerto Number One.
