WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On June 19th of that year, the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority voted not to be part of the Radio Emergency Light Company’s new flashing white emergency traffic light system. RELCo. would only be used by police, fire and medical emergency vehicles.
