WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On May 18th of that year, television stations WICU, WSEE, and WJET were flooded with hundreds of phone calls from angry soap opera viewers complaining they were missing their favorite soaps - due to the first day of coverage of the Watergate hearings. WQLN received no calls.
This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, which is available online at WQLN.org and on PBS Passport.
