WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On May 17th of that year, Erie’s Barber Union 149 released a survey from its membership indicating that most wives of Erie barbers are now working to support their families. The Union blamed business downturns on men’s new mod hairstyles.
This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, which is available online at WQLN.org and on PBS Passport.
