WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On May 3rd of that year, members of Erie’s Perry Memorial House Commission expressed their concerns about the severe deterioration of the dry-docked Brig Niagara. The commission recommended a complete overhaul of the ship before the planned 1976 Bicentennial celebrations.
This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, which is available online at WQLN.org and on PBS Passport.
