WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973. On May 1st of that year, Robert Houriet’s book “Getting Back Together” was banned from Millcreek School Libraries. The book, about hippies and commune life, including Meadvile’s well-known Oz commune, was deemed “…a dirty filthy book.”
This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, which is available online at WQLN.org and on PBS Passport.
