WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973, and on April 11th of that year – Erie City Councilmen and mayoral candidate Pat Cappabianca questioned the spending practices of the administration and called for a federal audit of Erie’s Model Cities Program. Mayoral Assistant Joe Robbie called the request both strange and political.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, showing Lake Erie, Our Kin Part 2 this Thursday night on WQLN PBS.
