WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973, and on April 10th of that year – Millcreek Supervisors approved the construction of a new grocery store at the corner of Colonial and 26th Streets. Neighborhood protests would move the store east, and Super Duper would eventually be built near Pittsburgh Avenue.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, showing Lake Erie, Our Kin Part 2 this Thursday night on WQLN PBS.
