WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973, and on April 4th of that year – WQLN’s first Board President, Maurice Kolpien, gave a library talk on one of Erie’s first families - the Miles Family. Descendants of William Miles would participate in every historical event, from fighting the British to building the Erie Extension Canal.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, showing Lake Erie, Our Kin Part 1 this Thursday night on WQLN PBS.
