WQLN NPR first signed on the air in 1973, and on March 14th of that year – Achilles Pulakos, the owner of Pulakos 926 Candies, was awarded $399,000 by an Erie County jury for his State Street store, which was demolished in the name of urban renewal and the construction of a new downtown hotel.

This Day in History is presented by Chronicles, which is available online at WQLN.org and on PBS Passport.
